Italian Minor| Minor

Expand your world with a minor in Italian! An Italian Studies minor complements any major in any discipline with additional skills that are valuable in the workplace. A minor in Italian Studies will not only enable you to improve your communication skills and learn a new language, but it will also equip you with insight into another culture and that culture's rich history, art, literature, and cuisine. It will also teach you to think critically and be more empathetic. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to travel to Italy!

Requirements 

Students wishing to pursue a minor in Italian must complete 17 semester credits, including: 

  • IT 101 Beginning Italian I (3+ 1 Semester Hours) * 

  • IT 102 Beginning Italian II (3+1 Semester Hours) * 

* Students must take the accompanying 1-credit online Language Lab with this course.

  • IT 210 Italian Food & Culture (3 SH) (offered in English with optional material in Italian)

  • IT 211 Introduction to Italian Culture and Civilization (3 SH) (offered in English with optional material in Italian)

  • IT 220 Italian Conversation (3 SH)

  • IT 240 Cultural Trip to Italy (1 SH course preparation for the trip + 3 SH trip abroad with the professor) (offered in both English and Italian)

  • IT 311 Introduction to Dante’s Divine Comedy (3 SH) (offered in English with optional material in Italian)
